What a beautiful place! The staff was so nice and even offered for us to take photos with the kimonos. Matcha was great!

Ohina Cafe Matcha is a charming little spot dedicated to the art of Japanese matcha, and notably one of the few cafes in Harajuku that carries halal certification. Tucked away in a quiet building near the intersection of Meiji Street and the main Harajuku thoroughfare, it offers a welcoming space for Muslim travellers and matcha enthusiasts who want to enjoy authentic green tea treats with full peace of mind. The menu centres on premium matcha sourced from renowned tea-growing regions in Japan, prepared as lattes, traditional whisked tea, and poured over silky desserts. Signature items include matcha parfaits layered with mochi, red bean paste and soft serve, as well as matcha dorayaki and warabimochi. Every item on the menu is halal-compliant, and the staff are happy to explain ingredients to reassure visitors. The cafe occupies a modest second-floor room with limited seating, so arriving outside peak hours is wise if you want to linger. It is a short walk from Harajuku Station along the main road. Reservations are not taken, but turnover is reasonable. This is a lovely choice for anyone seeking a calm, inclusive tea break in one of Tokyo's busiest districts.
