Chermside Sandwich is a sandwich cafe on the second floor at 1-6-8 Jingumae, three minutes from Harajuku Station on Takeshita Street. The shop has gone viral for its generously filled meat sandwiches, most famously a 300-gram steak sandwich seared to order and pressed between toasted bread with butter and honey mustard. The menu also covers omelette sandwiches, meat boxes and sides such as fries and smoothies. Counter service uses a beeper system, so diners can wander Takeshita Street while their order is prepared, with cooking times of around thirty minutes for the steak. The cosy room seats only a handful of pairs, so queues are common at peak times. It suits hungry shoppers, meat lovers and anyone chasing the much-filmed Harajuku steak sandwich.
