Halloween on Takeshita Street has become one of Tokyo's biggest unofficial costume events. Thousands of locals and visitors dress up — from quick kigurumi onesies to elaborate cosplay — and stroll the pedestrian avenue showing off their looks.
It's not an organized festival so much as a self-organized street gathering, but the energy is enormous. Shops often hand out treats to costumed visitors, and photographers line the street. Go in costume — you'll fit right in.
