Omotesando is the kids’ parade. Takeshita is the crush. The basement sells a ticket.

Harajuku runs three Halloweens in the same fortnight. They share a station and almost nothing else. Mix them and you stand in the wrong queue, in the wrong shoes, with the wrong ticket.

Sunday 25 October is the merchant-association version. Keyaki-kai’s Pumpkin Parade puts children 12 and under on Omotesando. LivePocket sold the ¥1,000 voucher from 6 October and the official site marked it sold out on 10 October. Viewing from the pavement is still free. Reception is Jingumae Elementary, 4-20-12 Jingumae, 10:30–12:30. Opening 12:45. Walk 13:00 to about 14:30, school to Hills to Ito Hospital and back. Cars leave Jingumae crossing to Aoyama-dori in that window. Rain cancels; the site says so by 09:00. Parents with small children use this one. It is not a costume night for adults.

Takeshita Street in Harajuku, a different Halloween from the Omotesando kids’ parade

Takeshita on the 31st is already Saturday

31 October 2026 is a Saturday. Takeshita-dori does not publish a festival. The 350 m stretch in Jingumae 1-chome is already a pedestrian street 11:00–18:00 every day. Costumes appear because people bring them. Shops sometimes hand sweets. There is no stage, no official count, no Keyaki-kai timetable. Locals who still live or work in Jingumae treat Saturday Takeshita as a crush on a normal weekend. Halloween makes it slower. Togo Shrine is one block off. Cat Street is the other walk. Photographers who do not ask get the street they deserve.

Shibuya scramble is a different valley. The ward is not hosting Halloween at the crossing. Do not walk south from Harajuku looking for a festival that the Japanese briefing already cancelled. Street drinking around that station is banned from 18:00 every night of the year. That rule does not turn Takeshita into a venue either.

KAWAII MONSTER LAND on B1F of Takeshita Street Square, the ticketed Halloween

The basement is a different product

KAWAII MONSTER LAND sits under Takeshita Street Square, 1-16-4 Jingumae, B1F. The Halloween overlay runs 1 October to 3 November. Adult day tickets are still in the ¥2,800–¥3,500 band. Hours 10:00–21:40. Cashless. No re-entry. Saturday night parties are a separate ¥3,000 product. This is Sebastian Masuda’s park, not the pavement. Finish the crepe before you go down.

If you have one afternoon: 25 October, stand on Omotesando and watch children in cheap capes, then leave before the cars come back at 14:30. If you have 31 October and you wanted a street, Takeshita will give you one, slowly. If you wanted a show, buy LAND. The shrine forest that week is Meiji Jingu’s autumn rites, which is another calendar entirely.
