A well-known yakiniku chain where you grill premium cuts at your table in the heart of Harajuku.
Gyu-Kaku is one of Japan's most recognisable yakiniku brands, and this Harajuku branch on the third floor of the Champsaire Building delivers the classic experience with dependable quality. The concept is simple and satisfying: you order plates of marinated and unmarinated meats, then cook them yourself on the grill built into your table, soaking up the sizzling aromas as you go.The menu spans a wide range of beef cuts, pork, chicken, and vegetables, all accompanied by an array of dipping sauces and side dishes such as kimchi, rice, and cold noodles. Set courses are available and offer good value if you want to try a bit of everything without overthinking the ordering process. The drinks list covers the usual Japanese beers, highballs, and sake, all of which pair excellently with grilled meat.
This branch is conveniently located just off Takeshita Street, making it an easy dinner option after a day of exploring. It can get very busy in the evenings, so booking ahead or arriving early is recommended. Ventilation is decent for a yakiniku spot, though your clothes will inevitably pick up some smoke.

Very good Japanese barbecue with a large choice of meats.. Good value for price, we had the 3rd Menu option with 7 meats (6 pre-selected and 1 to chose: we recommend the pork belly), salads and entrées, ramen noodles, a desert and a bowl of rice for 2,980¥. However the service was sometimes a little bit slowly

The meat was delicious. We walked in with no reservation at around 1:30pm and had no issue being seated. The staff were friendly and we could communicate despite the language barrier. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quick, yummy and authentic lunch
